In April 2019, the Japanese Government issued a special skills visa (Japanese name: Tokutei Ginou). This is a new type of visa for foreign workers working in Japan. When granted this visa, workers will have the opportunity to work for 5 consecutive years in Japan with good income and attractive incentives.
1. What is a Tokutei Gino Visa?
Tokutei Visa is a status of residence for foreigners with certain skills and experience in certain occupations. In which, the salary compensation policy can be equal or higher than that of Japanese people to select people with both skills and a certain level of Japanese language proficiency.
2. Participants
– Gender: Male, Female
– Age: 18 – 26 years old
– Qualification: Graduated from high school or higher (graduation time is less than 5 years compared to the time to apply to study abroad).
– Other requirements: have good health, do not have tuberculosis, have no criminal record, and are not banned from exit by the Vietnam Immigration Department, eligible to study in Japan.
– Have never registered to participate in trainee programs or international students in Japan.
– Foreign language level: Japanese equivalent to N5 or higher.
3. Tokutei visa classification
The Tokutei Ginou visa program is divided into two types: Specified Skills No. 1 and Specified Skills No. 2. Specifically:
Specified visa type 1: For workers who have completed a labor contract in the form of a trainee visa, they can easily participate in the skills test to convert to a specified skill visa type 1. Working duration This type of visa is valid for 5 years and cannot sponsor family and relatives to Japan.
Type 2 special visa: Type 2 visa will be issued when you have completed type 1 visa. With type 2 visa, you are completely capable of applying for a permanent residence visa in Japan. At the same time, you can also sponsor family and relatives to Japan.
4. Occupations that apply for the Tokutei Ginou visa
Specified skills visa No. 1 is applied to 14 occupations, including: Construction,
ship manufacturing industry, car repair, airport operations, hotel operations, elderly care, housekeeping, building cleaning, agriculture, fishery, food processing , food service, restaurant, raw material processing, manufacturing machinery, electromechanical – electronics.
Specified visa number 2 has the following industries: Construction and ship manufacturing industry.

6. Learning path
Step 1: Register to study abroad under a Tokutei visa in Vietnam. Apply to study abroad in Japan Tokutei. Foreign language training according to exclusive curriculum: Tokutei practice.
Step 2: Study abroad for 6 months to 12 months in Japan, you go to language school and take the Tokutei exam. During exam preparation, tokutei is supported in introducing part-time jobs to cover their studies.
Step 3: Apply for a job and convert Tokutei Visa. After passing the Tokutei exam. The company will take care of the orders and work for you. Supports conversion procedures from student visa to Tokutei visa (official employment) for up to 5 years.
